Chair Henry welcomes Government of Canada’s latest broadband investment

The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham:

“On behalf of the Region of Durham, I am happy to see continued financial commitment to broadband from our federal partners, the Government of Canada.

As part of the Universal Broadband Fund, Rapid Response Stream, nearly $1 million will be invested in bringing high-speed internet to roughly 4,500 households across several communities in Durham Region.

Broadband access is a vital piece of infrastructure that is essential for communication, education, and the economic competitiveness of our residents, businesses and institutions. It’s with continued investments such as these, that we can realize our vision of connecting our entire region with fast and reliable broadband.

We look forward to continued partnership in the future to help realize that vision.”
